Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize deals with landowners who own mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for workers (human camps), set up excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations.

Billy Bob Thornton delivers his snappy, sarcastic, no-nonsense lines with typical Billy Bob Thornton sarcasm
Even the opening credits are similar in style and cinematography, I guess that is a Taylor Sheridan trademark. There is a scene in one of the early episodes where Thornton’s character gives a long speech about the need for oil in every area of our lives, which definitely sounds like scripted propaganda for the oil industry, but nothing he says is false.
It is funny that the early episodes are sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute and feature commercials that feature oil and oil workers
Overall I think it will be a great show, the writing is great, the acting is great, and the characters are very human.
